Consumer Direct

Professional Catering Delivery for Your Event

Order from the restaurant you actually want, and let Houston Delivery Services handle getting it to your party, office or family gathering — intact, on time and properly presented.

Consumer Direct is how an individual — not a business — works with HDS. You place a catering or large food order directly with the restaurant, exactly as you would if you were picking it up yourself, and HDS handles only the delivery. There is no account to open and no membership: you book the delivery online, and you pay the restaurant for the food and HDS for the delivery, separately, as two different things.

Who this is for

For the order that is too big for an app

Most delivery apps are built around one person ordering one meal. The moment you are feeding twenty, thirty or a hundred people, that model quietly stops working.

The restaurant does not deliver at that size

Plenty of the best restaurants in Houston will happily cater your order and then tell you it is pickup only. That is where we come in.

Nobody wants to make three car trips

Trays, drink carriers and hot boxes for a crowd do not fit in a sedan, and they do not survive being stacked.

You are hosting, not driving

The hour before guests arrive is the worst possible time to be stuck in traffic on the other side of town.

It has to arrive at the right temperature

Food that shows up lukewarm has failed, no matter how good the restaurant was.

Your Restaurant. Your Order. HDS Handles the Delivery.

HDS is a delivery company, not a food company. You choose the restaurant and place the catering or large order with them directly — the menu, the price of the food and any deposit are between you and the kitchen, exactly as they would be if you were collecting it yourself.

What we take on is everything after that: arriving at the restaurant at the agreed time, loading the order into professional thermal equipment, transporting it across the Houston metro, and handing it over in person at your home, office or venue.

There is no membership, no subscription and no contract, and no account to create. You book a delivery online when you need one.

What's included

What your delivery includes

Pickup from your chosen restaurant

We collect from restaurants across our Houston coverage area — you are not limited to a partner list or a marketplace menu.

Catering-scale handling

Drivers expect trays, chafing dishes and multi-box orders, and load them so they travel level and intact.

Professional thermal transport

Your order travels in thermal equipment built for catering, not loose in the back of a car.

Delivery at a time you choose

You tell us when the food needs to be there. The pickup is scheduled backwards from that.

Status you can follow

Track the delivery from pickup through to completion instead of wondering where it is.

A real handoff

The order is handed to you in person — including help setting it out where that applies — not left on a doorstep.

Use cases

What people use us for

Family gatherings

Holidays, birthdays and reunions where the food comes from a restaurant and the host would rather be at home.

Private events

Showers, receptions, memorials and milestone celebrations at a home or a rented venue.

Parties & celebrations

Graduations, game days and anniversaries — anything with a guest list and a start time.

Office meals you arranged yourself

Team lunches and client meetings you organised personally rather than through a company account.

Large restaurant orders

Any order big enough that the restaurant will prepare it but not deliver it.

In practice

Consumer Direct in Practice

A few realistic examples of how the delivery works once the order is placed. None of these are real customers — they are illustrations of the same underlying service.

A family reunion

You order trays from a Houston barbecue restaurant for forty people, ready at 1:00 PM. You tell HDS the pickup restaurant and the address guests are gathering at. A driver collects the order in thermal equipment and hands it to you at the door — no car trips, nothing balanced on a lap.

An office lunch you organised yourself

You call a favourite restaurant and place a large lunch order for your department, arranged personally rather than through a company account. HDS brings it to your office at the time you agreed — the order and the bill stay between you and the restaurant.

A milestone celebration at a rented venue

The caterer prepares the food at their own kitchen, not at the venue. HDS collects it on schedule and delivers it to the venue ahead of your guests, handed to whoever is managing the event.

A holiday order too big to carry

Multiple trays and sides for a large gathering — more than would fit safely in one car, let alone stay level on the drive. HDS collects the full order at once and delivers it intact.

Process

How it works

Four steps, and the first one is yours — you place the food order with the restaurant, we do not order on your behalf.

  1. Place your order with the restaurant

Choose your restaurant and arrange the catering or large order with them directly, including when it will be ready for collection.

  2. Book your delivery

Enter the restaurant pickup information, the destination, your pickup and delivery schedule and the order details in the HDS online checkout. HDS calculates your delivery price before you pay — no account needed.

  3. We collect the order

Your driver arrives at the restaurant at the scheduled time, receives the order and secures it in thermal transport equipment.

  4. We deliver and hand it over

The order travels to your address and is handed over in person, with delivery confirmed once it is complete.

Why HDS

What holds true on every delivery

Whichever way you work with us, these are the parts that do not change.

Catering is the whole business

HDS is not a general courier that also moves food. Large, scheduled food orders are what the service is built around.

Thermal transport as standard

Drivers carry professional thermal equipment and are trained to handle catering orders so they arrive as the kitchen sent them.

Flat-rate, no commissions

A flat base fee based on order value, plus a per-mile charge only when a trip runs beyond 10 miles. No commission is ever taken on the food itself.

Scheduled, not on demand

Deliveries are booked in advance against a pickup and delivery time, so the timing is agreed before anyone gets in a vehicle.

Visibility from pickup to handoff

Order status is available from pickup through completion, and every finished delivery is confirmed and recorded.

One metro, covered properly

Houston and its surrounding communities, served by drivers who work here — not a thin national footprint.

Coverage

Across the greater Houston area

Houston and its surrounding communities — one metro, covered properly.

From The Woodlands and Conroe in the north, west through Katy and Cypress, south to Sugar Land, Pearland and League City, and east toward Baytown and the ship channel communities.

Delivering inside the city itself? Houston coverage covers the downtown, Medical Center and Energy Corridor sub-markets district by district. Suburban markets have their own pages too, including Katy, The Woodlands and Sugar Land.

Pricing

What it costs

Delivery pricing is flat-rate: a base fee determined by the total value of your food order, plus a per-mile charge that only applies when a trip runs longer than 10 miles. There is no surge pricing and no commission on your food.

Because the base fee depends on your order value and the distance depends on your addresses, the price is calculated once you have entered the restaurant, the destination and your order details. You review the exact delivery price in the checkout before you pay — nothing is charged until you do.

FAQ

Questions about this service

Do I order the food through HDS?

No. You place the food order with the restaurant yourself, and HDS handles the delivery. We are a delivery and logistics company — we do not sell food or take your order for the kitchen.

Can HDS pick up from any restaurant?

We collect from restaurants across our Houston coverage area. You are not restricted to a partner list. If you are unsure whether a particular restaurant or address is covered, ask us before you place the order.

How far in advance should I schedule?

As early as you reasonably can. HDS schedules deliveries in advance rather than dispatching on demand, so the more notice we have, the more easily the pickup can be arranged around when the kitchen will have your order ready.

Can I book online without an account?

Yes. Individuals and one-off customers can book a delivery online without creating an HDS account. Enter your pickup restaurant, delivery address, schedule and order details, review your delivery price, and pay securely online. You still order and pay for the food itself directly with the restaurant.

Can I track my delivery?

Yes. Order status is available from pickup through to completion, and the delivery is confirmed once it has been handed over.

Where does HDS deliver?

Across Houston and the surrounding communities in the greater Houston area — from The Woodlands and Conroe in the north to Sugar Land, Pearland and League City in the south, and east toward Baytown. Each area has its own page listing local details.

Planning an event?

Enter the restaurant, the destination and the time it needs to arrive, and book your delivery online in a few minutes. No account required.
