Catering Delivery

Catering Delivery Done Properly

Trays, chafing dishes and hot boxes for a room full of people — moved across Houston in thermal transport equipment and handed over by a driver who was expecting them.

Catering delivery is what every HDS account type is actually buying: scheduled pickup and delivery of a food order large enough that it needs to be handled as a unit — trays, chafing dishes and multi-box orders — rather than a single meal in a bag.

Who this is for

Why catering is its own discipline

Catering delivery is not a bigger takeaway order. Almost everything that makes it hard is absent from single-meal delivery.

The kitchen sets the clock

The order is ready when it is ready. Pickup has to be coordinated with the restaurant, not guessed at.

It has to travel level

Full trays and chafing dishes do not tolerate being stacked, tilted or wedged into a footwell.

Temperature is the product

Arriving quickly is worth nothing if the food arrives lukewarm.

There is a deadline nobody will move

An event has a start time. The delivery is judged against a promise someone else already made.

Built around the order, not the app

Catering is core to what Houston Delivery Services does. Every account type — Consumer Direct, Small Business and Enterprise — moves catering-sized orders, and the service is designed around them rather than treating them as an oversized exception.

That means pickups scheduled with the kitchen rather than dispatched on demand, professional thermal equipment as standard, drivers who expect large orders, and a delivery that ends with a person rather than a photo.

What's included

On every catering delivery

Scheduled pickup

The collection time is agreed in advance and worked backwards from when the food has to arrive.

Order verification

The driver receives and checks the order against the booking before leaving the restaurant.

Thermal transport equipment

Professional thermal equipment built for trays and large restaurant orders.

Careful loading

Orders are loaded to travel level and intact, not packed to fill space.

Tracking through to completion

Delivery status from pickup to handoff, without a phone call.

In-person handoff

Handed over to a person, with help setting a catering order out where that applies.

Use cases

Restaurant catering output

The catering side of a restaurant that has no delivery team of its own.

In practice

Catering Delivery in Practice

A corporate lunch tray order

A restaurant preps a large tray order for a client meeting. HDS times the pickup so the order lands before the meeting starts, not around it.

A wedding reception

Multiple chafing dishes and trays for over a hundred guests, collected as one scheduled pickup and delivered together to the venue ahead of the event.

A weekly office catering drop

The same workplace, catered on the same day most weeks, booked as its own scheduled delivery each time rather than an automatic standing order.

Process

How a catering delivery runs

The same four stages whether the order comes from an individual or a group.

  1. The delivery is scheduled

Pickup restaurant, destination, order details and the times the order is ready and needs to arrive.

  2. The order is collected

A driver arrives at the scheduled time, receives and verifies the order, and secures it for transport.

  3. It travels in thermal equipment

Loaded to stay level and hold temperature for the trip across the Houston metro.

  4. It is handed over and confirmed

An in-person handoff at the destination, and the delivery is confirmed once complete.

Why HDS

What holds true on every delivery

Whichever way you work with us, these are the parts that do not change.

Catering is the whole business

HDS is not a general courier that also moves food. Large, scheduled food orders are what the service is built around.

Thermal transport as standard

Drivers carry professional thermal equipment and are trained to handle catering orders so they arrive as the kitchen sent them.

Flat-rate, no commissions

A flat base fee based on order value, plus a per-mile charge only when a trip runs beyond 10 miles. No commission is ever taken on the food itself.

Scheduled, not on demand

Deliveries are booked in advance against a pickup and delivery time, so the timing is agreed before anyone gets in a vehicle.

Visibility from pickup to handoff

Order status is available from pickup through completion, and every finished delivery is confirmed and recorded.

One metro, covered properly

Houston and its surrounding communities, served by drivers who work here — not a thin national footprint.

Coverage

Across the greater Houston area

Houston and its surrounding communities — one metro, covered properly.

From The Woodlands and Conroe in the north, west through Katy and Cypress, south to Sugar Land, Pearland and League City, and east toward Baytown and the ship channel communities.

Delivering inside the city itself? Houston coverage covers the downtown, Medical Center and Energy Corridor sub-markets district by district. Suburban markets have their own pages too, including Katy, The Woodlands and Sugar Land.

Pricing

Catering delivery pricing

Catering deliveries use the same flat-rate structure as everything else HDS moves: a base fee determined by the value of the food order, plus a per-mile charge only when the trip runs beyond 10 miles.

There is no commission on the food and no surge pricing, so a larger order does not become unpredictable to deliver.

FAQ

Questions about this service

What counts as a catering order?

Practically, any food order large enough that it needs to be scheduled and handled as a unit — trays, multi-box orders and hot boxes for a group, rather than individual meals.

Does HDS supply the thermal equipment?

Yes. Drivers carry professional thermal transport equipment built for catering orders as standard.

Is this on-demand delivery?

No. Catering deliveries are scheduled in advance against a pickup and delivery time. HDS coordinates the pickup with the restaurant rather than dispatching to whoever is nearby.

Will someone help set the order out?

The delivery ends with an in-person handoff, including light handling or placement of the order at the delivery location where that applies.

Who can book catering delivery?

Businesses book through the portal with a business account. Individuals arranging a one-off catering order should contact our team, who will set the delivery up directly.

Have a catering order to move?

Tell us the restaurant, the destination and when it has to be there.
